Bugg Lights at Menaul School - A History
One of the area’s best known Christmas traditions – The Bugg Lights – is returning to Albuquerque after a 5 year hiatus. Earlier this year, Menaul School was selected from a pool of more than 20 applicants to be the new home for the Christmas display known affectionately as simply the “Bugg Lights.”
The “Bugg Lights’” are a Christmas Holiday attraction of over 200,000 lights with characters like Snoopy, Raggedy Ann and Andy, Eskimos, penguins and much, much more. Norman and Joyce Bugg collected and built their now famous front yard Christmas display over more than 30 years. During that time, the Bugg house in Albuquerque’s Northeast Heights grew to become an annual Christmas destination for thousands of families and their children.
